Ink + Ivy Design is an owner-operated interior design studio serving the greater Washington, D.C., area. We create homes that are beautiful, personal, and genuinely enjoyable to live in—because a room can look amazing and still leave you wondering where to put your drink.

We believe good design starts with curiosity, not rules. What makes you feel at home? Which pieces tell a story? What does your family need from the space—and what has been quietly driving you crazy?

Those questions help us create a home that reflects your personality, supports your routines, and makes everyday life feel a little better. Our work is informed by neuroaesthetics, which explores how elements such as color, light, texture, and proportion affect the way we feel. In practice, that means we think about more than what looks good. We think about what feels welcoming, calming, energizing, joyful—or whatever “home” means to you.

Our designs are guided by four principles: they should be functional, beautiful, sustainable, and attainable. We’ll happily encourage a daring wallpaper or a deeply impractical-looking chair—but only if the wallpaper works with the room and the chair is secretly comfortable.

Ink + Ivy Design was founded by Amanda Pearson, a lifelong design enthusiast and graduate of the New York School of Interior Design. Before turning her love of interiors into a business, Amanda spent two decades in communications. It may not be the traditional route to design, but it taught her how to listen closely, ask useful questions, untangle competing ideas, and find the story that brings everything together.

Ink + Ivy Design’s approach is thoughtful but never precious, collaborative rather than prescriptive, and serious about the details without taking design—or anything else—too seriously.

The goal isn’t to give you a home that looks like a magazine shoot. It’s to create one that feels unmistakably like you.
